The Punjab Cabinet on Wednesday approved a State Employment Plan 2020-22, to fill vacant jobs in government departments, boards, corporations, and agencies in a phased time-bound manner.

Punjab Employment Generation Minister Mr, Charanjit Singh Channi clarified in the recent cabinet meeting that the government would bring uniformity in the recruitment process of various government posts.

This decision will be beneficial for job aspirants and is expected to ease the recruitment process with the PPSC exam. This way, the job aspirants can dedicatedly aim for a single syllabus regarding their preparation. This will also help in reducing the financial burden on the applicants and also the state that otherwise conducts multiple exams.

This recruitment will take place on central government pay scales, in line with the previous cabinet decision to this effect. The government has also decided that during a state-level function on Independence day 2021, there will be a formal joining of the selected candidates in Government posts for the term 2020-21. The function will be presided over by the Chief Minister.

The Cabinet has approved the plan and different departments advertise their respective vacancies this month by October 31, 2020, so that the process of recruitment can be taken forward. The Administrative Departments have taken the complete responsibility to make sure transparent and fair recruitment within the given time schedule.

As per the official spokesperson, the Cabinet has allowed the Chief Minister of Punjab, Honorable Captain Amarinder Singh to make any amendments/additions/deletions as per the situation. He can take the advice of the Departments of Personnel and Finance and make amendments to the proposals.

In the Month of March amid the Covid pandemic, the Chief Minister of Punjab announced that 50,000 direct quota vacant government posts shall be filled in FY 2020-21 and another 50,000 posts in fiscal 2021-22, as a part of his flagship program ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’.
